About
Hailed for his energetic and inspirational performances, the Cypriot clarinettist George Georgiou enjoys a career as a classical and contemporary clarinettist. He appeared in many solo concerts and recitals in Europe, Middle East and USA. He collaborated with some prominent musicians such as the legendary cellist Rohan de Saram, Prazak Quartet, Apple Hill String Quartet, Chilingirian String Quartet, the violinist Movses Pogossian and he appeared as a soloist with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, Sofia Sinfonietta, Commandaria Orchestra and Moscow Virtuosi.

In his research for new repertoire, George started commissioning works for clarinet and so far he collaborated with the most dominant composers from Cyprus. He premiered several works featuring the clarinet with most of them being dedicated to him. He is a member of Georgiou Georgieva DUO, Lyrical Noise Ensemble, Quintus Ensemble, Chronos Contemporary Music Ensemble, Patsiaoura Ensemble and Claritar Duo. He is currently the director and clarinet professor at ARTE Music Academy as well as the clarinet instructor at the Pafos and Nicosia Music Schools.

George is a graduate from City University, London, where he studied clarinet with Julian Farrell and Joy Faral at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He is also a MBA graduate from the Neapolis University Paphos, Cyprus and a member of Mensa Cyprus. His busy profile gained him an international recognition and he became a Selmer Paris Clarinet Artist, a Silverstein Ligature Artist, Marca Reeds Artist, Gleichweit Mundstucke Artist and a Royal Global Accessories Artist. He is also the Cyprus Chair and the Middle East Regional Chair of the International Clarinet Association and a member of the association’s International Music Committee. Very recently he has been voted as the Treasurer / Finance Management Officer of the European Clarinet Association

His first Digital Album with Solo Clarinet Works by Cypriot Composer was released in 2023 and two more albums are expected to be released in 2026.


Patsiaoura Ensemble

PATSIAOURA ensemble was founded in 2014 in Nicosia (CY). The aim and vision of the ensemble is to perform music in unusual settings, aiming to re-create the experience of attending a ritual rather than a concert. The ensemble has performed in various festivals, including the Kypria International festival, Axiothea festival, Flash-Art, contemporary series and more.
The ensemble presents performances in various formations according to the music performed and the setting.

Chronos Contemporary Music Ensemble​

Founded in 2011, Chronos Contemporary Music Ensemble aims to develop Cyprus' New Music scene. Since then, it collaborated with several Cypriot composers performing the World or Cyprus Premiers of their works. So far it collaborated with European University Cyprus, Center of Cypriot Composers, Cyprus Music Information Center and Rialto Theater and has appeared in several international programs such as the SMC2018. Living Museums - Interfaces Program and Cyprus New Music Festival

LYRICAL NOISE

Lyrical Noise Ensemble was formed in 2016 by clarinetist George Georgiou and percussionist Marios Nicolaou in an attempt to present, promote and encourage new music in Cyprus. The ensemble since then performed in various occasions around Cyprus and abroad and has collaborated with several local organisations. The ensemble is also dedicated to working together with local composers in an attempt to increase the repertoire giving Cypriot composers a way to present their music to the world

Quintus Ensemble​

Quintus Ensemble was born out of a group of individuals with a true passion for music. Ever since coming together, they have been privileged to share their devotion to music and live performance with audience of all ages. Having overcome many challenges, they are creating a distinct sound and receiving well-deserved acclaim for their musicianship and creativity. Their signature style has become synonymous with a diverse collection of melodies and compositions. Every project they undertake is full of energy bringing the acoustic experience of any listener to the next level.
